| WEAVING CLASSES |
| |
| Even if you never wove a potholder at summer camp, before you know it you'll be weaving beautiful fabric. And if your childhood did include a little metal frame and stretchy loops to make potholders, you'll appreciate how much easier it is to weave on a 4 harness loom. |
 |
Class # 1
What can you weave? This first class will introduce you to some of the possibilities. People think of scarves and shawls but you'll see much more on display from simple placemats to clothing and wall art. The looms are all prewarped, that means ready for you to weave on, and after a few minutes of weaving "tabby" or "plain weave" you'll be ready to try different patterns.
|
Class # 2
You'll continue trying out different weave structures or patterns and learn how to introduce new colors into your weaving. Learn how to repair a broken warp thread.
Class # 3
Your first weaving will be complete and when you remove it from the loom it will serve as a weaving sampler. Learn how to knot or twist fringe. Now you can plan your own project using whichever weaving patterns you prefer. Learn how to plan a project and measure warp using a warping board. Begin "dressing" or warping your loom for your project.
Class # 4
Finish warping the loom and begin weaving.
Class # 5
Weave according to your plans.
Class # 6
Complete your project and cut it off the loom. Enjoy seeing the entire piece as it unwinds from the loom.
Graduation time!
